The project focuses on the narrative of the Kappa featured in the novel by Ryunosuke Akutagawa. The Kappa is a mythical creature, some ancient documents depict them as a water elf, worshipped as a sacred river beast. As the belief in Kappa folklore diminished depictions of the Kappa evolved to those of a monster. Many people believe kappa exists but seldom see it. My project explores Kappa as a metaphor for human society, targeted at the pollution problem, exploring the relationship between humans and the environment
